TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Dealing with personal finance is a huge daily struggle for much of the population. Once control is lost, it is difficult to rebuild or even establish any type of savings.

Many people in the area are in need of education to learn how to organize their money. The Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo is offering a free program to help them do just that.

"The focus of the workshop is to make people think. Become aware of their thinking in regards to money," said Brian Rome, program director.

Thursday, around 20 local residents attended his class at Catholic Charities titled Managing with Diligence. The program helps participants struggling to manage their household expenses.

"A lady came in this morning and she says ‘I got my income tax check and I was gonna go to the store, but after yesterday, I put some of that money away.' See that's the win right there!" said Rome.

Cynthia Hinton says she is one of those who are winning after taking the two-day class. She says she feels more confident now about how to handle her finances.

"I would tell anyone to come and come down here because they will learn a lot. You'll be able to get on the budget! Which I never have been, but I know I can now," said Hinton.

You can find the website for Catholic Charities here for more about this program.
