Springfield Schools announce calamity day make-up plans

(Toledo News Now) -

Weather closed Springfield Schools 14 days this winter. Administrators were waiting for a decision from the state as to how many calamity days would be added, but it still was not enough.

As of March 20, here is a breakdown of the school district's plan to make up the 14 days:

-5 calamity days granted each year

-4 additional days provided by the state

-1 day given back by Springfield teachers

-1 day made up on April 21

-2 days made up by adding 30 minutes to the end of each day April 7-25

-1 day made up by moving the last day of school from June 4 to June 5

Transportation will be adjusted accordingly to extended April school days. The additional 30 minutes per day, along with the cancellation of two delayed starts, gives the district enough hours to make up for two days lost.

Dismissal times for April 7-25 will be as follows:

-High School: 3 p.m.

-Middle School: 2:55 p.m.

-Crissey: 4 p.m.

-Dorr: 3:30 p.m.

-Holland: 4 p.m.

-Holloway: 3:30 p.m.

This schedule is subject to change if there would be a need for any additional closures.
