Mental Health First Aid classes to be offered in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Bowling Green Municipal Court judges and staff will soon undergo training on how to spot and help those suffering from mental illness, and the public is invited to join.

The training, called mental health first aid, will educate participants on how to spot a mental health crisis.

"Say I work as a receptionist and there is someone in the waiting room having a mental health crisis or some sort of issue. This area will help you interact with that person more appropriately," said NAMI Wood County Executive Director Jessica Schmitt.

"[Participants will learn] to reach out and help their neighbors to get the treatment that we know works and we also know that people recover," said Wood County Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board Executive Director Tom Clemons.
