OAK HARBOR, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The results of a Davis Besse environmental study were released Tuesday.

Preliminary results show environmental impacts are not great enough to deny license renewal to the plant.

A special public meeting was held Tuesday, where people got the got the chance to sound off on environmental findings. Not everyone in attendance was happy with the study.

One man expressed his frustration about migratory birds and thought a more thorough study was necessary.

On the other hand, the superintendent of Benton-Carroll-Salem schools said 20 percent of money from the district is generated by Davis Besse. Organizers say comments both positive and negative help reach a final decision.

"We believe people in the community here know the area. They're aware of the issues. We have experts but we want to be conscious of what people's concerns are," said Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesperson Viktoria Mitlyng.

The environmental review is not complete. A final decision on whether or not to renew the plant's license will be reached in September.
