TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Cedar Creek church is donating more than $7,500 to the Toledo Fire Department to furnish Fire Station 3 once it is finished being remodeled.

The donation was made in honor of Privates Jamie Dickman and Steven Machcinski, who were killed fighting a fire on Magnolia Street on January 26.

"We became aware that the fire fighters here at this station are provided a physical structure by the city but we're gonna to need to pull together some resources in order to give them some of the things they need to live here, where they spend a significant portion of their time," said Cedar Creek Regional Campus Director Ben Snyder.

Fire Station 3 is in the midst of a complete remodeling. Firefighters say they appreciate the donation.

"What it means to the department is it's a continuation of the honoring of Steve and Jamie. We've always said Toledo rallied behind us, not just Toledo, northwestern Ohio. The support and outpouring was absolutely humbling to us," said Lieutenant Matthew Hertzfel.

Construction at Fire Station 3 is expected to be completed sometime in June.
