More hiccups for healthcare.gov, as the web site was slammed with people trying to sign up for coverage as the final deadline looms to get coverage for this year.
"I'm having some issues today, we are still working through them so hopefully we can resolve them," Sharon Elliott said.
Twice Monday, users were blocked from signing up online. Healthcare agent Sharon Elliot and her team at Chesterfield Towne Center are having clients fill out paper applications because of problems logging onto the website.
Before the issues started they were able to help several clients, like Essence Thompson.
"I've been without healthcare for the past two years, I have a hole in my tooth and I haven't been able to get it fixed, I didn't have the dental insurance," Thompson said.
For this mother of two, that coverage couldn't come soon enough.
While Virginia has passed its enrollment target of more than 101,600 people, there is still a large number of those who don't make enough money to benefit from the healthcare market place or get medicaid.
"Medicaid is not being expanded in the state of Virginia. We are trying to give them resources that they can use, like organizations that are participating to try and help them out," Sharon Elliott said.
A single person needs to have an income of $11,490 in order to get coverage. Thankfully, Essence Thompson made that cut off.
"I'm just really happy and blessed to be able to get it today," Thompson said
The White House is promising any one who tries to enroll will get covered whether or not they finish the process Monday night, but you need to start before Tuesday in order to avoid the penalty.
