Authorities in Henry County say they've charged a man accused of severely beating two puppies with a baseball bat.
The Henry County Sheriff's Department confirmed to WSFA 12 News that Jerry Summers, a Headland resident, was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty.
The Sheriff's Department says Summers beat the two puppies with a baseball bat, but the animals did not die from the attack.
Due to the severity of the animals' injuries, authorities made the decision to have them euthanized.
The Dothan Eagle reports that Summers struck the male Labrador mixed puppies in the head last Thursday.
