Cramton Bowl is hoping to make a great first impression for this year's Camellia Bowl after the installation of new turf.
The turf offers not only an improved playing surface but can actually help to reduce injuries thanks to the rubber that's laid down with it.
This new NFL-quality synthetic turf is said to be unlike any other in the state.
The turf cost the city about $400,000, but the city says it will pay for itself because it's so easy to maintain.
Officials say the company UBU Sports out of Georgia is actually giving the city a deal.
"They are actually taking a loss on this project to get a showplace field in Alabama. They say by doing this, they will sell 10 or 12 other fields in Alabama," said Scott Miller, Director of Leisure Services & Facility Management.
