CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Hamilton police are receiving a new drug dog thanks to local drug dealers.

The department purchased a new K9 officer for $11,000. The new officer, named Flash, will be the first K9 unit for the Hamilton Police Department in five years.

Officers say that they purchased Flash using funds confiscated during local drug busts. According to authorities, no money is being used from Hamilton's general funds.

Flash has been specially trained to scour buildings for drugs and even apprehend suspects.

Flash's human counterpart, Casey Johnson, began training with the K9 unit this week. Police say that Flash will graduate in May.
