HAYNEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A trial originally scheduled to start Monday in a triple homicide case in Lowndes County has been delayed until fall.

Lowndes County Circuit Court Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell postponed the capital murder of Deandra Marquis Lee until Oct. 13 at the request of his defense lawyers. The attorneys said they needed more time to prepare for trial.

Lee has pleaded not guilty in the 2012 shooting deaths of 9-year-old twins Jordan and Taylor Dejerinett of Montgomery and 73-year-old Jack Mac Girdner of Hope Hull, who was caring for the twins. The three were reported missing on June 4, 2012. Their bodies were discovered the next day off a dirt road near Hayneville in Lowndes County. Lee was arrested a few days later at an apartment in Selma.
