It's a beautiful afternoon, and you're outside in the park. Then, a powerful thunderstorm moves in within minutes. There are no nearby structures or buildings for shelter, but your car is nearby so you make a run for it. After all, the tires will protect you from lightning strikes, right?Wrong. It's an idea that was first thought of in the late 1800s, on bicycles. A rubber tire is an insulator, so it is very difficult for it to conduct electricity. The same with rubber-soled shoes. The problem...More >>

TOMBSTONE, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Smoke and flames filled the Tombstone skyline Thursday afternoon and prompted community members to pick up hoses to help keep the town from burning down.

Four fire departments, from Whetstone, Huachuca City, St. David, and Tombstone responded to the scene, which is no stranger to fires.

Fire investigators were on scene to figure out what started the fire after 4 p.m. in a place with little to no electricity, and one that burned just a few years ago.  That fire, in late 2010 according to locals, never had an official cause.

Fire investigators from two different departments will review the damage from Thursday's fire and search for a cause.

One apartment burned partially, with lots of smoke and water damage.  The town is rallying to help those four people.

No one was hurt in the fire.  One person was treated for smoke inhalation but did not need to go to the hospital.
