TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

It's spring break week for Toledo Public School students, but that doesn't mean they're forgetting about their school work.

Blizzard Bags still need to be completed. These are extensive pages of work that will allow TPS students to make up three of their calamity days from this winter.

Many of them got help at Marshall Elementary School Tuesday. Connected to this school is the Carson Family Boys and Girls Club, which had a whole room filled with TPS students working on their Blizzard Bags.

Some of the younger kids have upwards of 40 pages of work to finish and turn in on Monday. Since many are also enrolled in the Boys and Girls Club, they are getting help from a Washington Local Schools teacher who was hired to answer questions they may have.

All four Toledo Boys and Girls Clubs will have a tutor through Thursday, from noon to 5 p.m. Students must do an hour of work on the Blizzard Bags before they can play with their friends.

"I would have to assume it's a load off the parents' shoulders, because they know their kids are working here with someone who is able to handle it. Then the parents should feel like they have more time to have some socializing time with their kids," said Luke Fannin, a Blizzard Bag tutor.

Parents can bring kids to the Boys and Girls Club to get help even if they're not enrolled.

On Wednesday and Thursday, all TPS high schools will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. where kids of all grades can continue to get help.
