SOUTHAVEN, MS -

(WMC-TV) - Plans for a new Mid-South outlet mall are moving forward.

Southaven, Miss. has plans for major retailers, hotels, and businesses to set up shop at one of the city's busiest intersections, where Church Road meets Interstate 55. The developments could make Southaven a shopper's haven.

"Not only in Memphis but all around, they will come and try to shop here," said Mohamed Ali, who works next door to the new development. "If we have traffic on Church Road and Goodman, it will be good for business."

WMC Action News 5 learned Wednesday that city leaders will decide Monday whether to allow advertisements for a new public improvement district.

Mayor Darren Musselwhite said it would act like a neighborhood association for all of the shops and businesses in the mall.

The move would allow private investors to sell bonds that might jump-start the project for potential customers.

After Monday's meeting, the public improvement district could be able to advertise for public meetings to discuss plans related to the outlet mall.
