(WMC) - A family is healing Tuesday after a mother was nearly raped in her front yard in front of two of her children.
The sunshine on Monday made for the perfect day to plant flowers. But instead of enjoying the pleasant weather, a Senatobia mother had to fight off an attacker in broad daylight.
"I saw a guy running from across, just through the back side of the woods through our flower bed," said the victim, who asked to remain anonymous. "He, um, just grabbed my clothes and pulled them down."
The woman fought him off in fear of what he might do to her little ones.
"I just screamed and yelled as loud as I could and just tried to get him off of me and to just get him to go away and not touch my children," she explained.
Law enforcement officers swarmed Senatobia searching for the suspect.
The woman told WMC Action News 5's Michael Clark that she had never seen the man before, but she hopes someone else does soon.
"Why would you want to mess with anybody who was in their yard playing with their children and just trying to enjoy a day outside," she asked. "We just really like to be outdoors and so we never thought anything like this would happen on our street."
The suspect was last seen wearing blue jeans, a faded blue shirt, and a hat. Witnesses saw an older silver or gray Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis in the area of the attack about 10 minutes before the 911 call. It had Tate County tags with the last three digits reading 001.
Senatobia Police found the T-shirt they believe could be connected to the suspect Tuesday night.
