Kenton County Police arrested a Hamilton County corrections officer Wednesday morning for trying to solicit a minor for sex.
Investigators say John D. Kamphaus, 40, arranged a meeting with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl he was chatting with online. When Kamphaus showed up at the park in Independence to meet her, undercover officers arrested him on the scene.
Kamphaus' bond is set for $25,000 and is due back in court on April 30. Officials say he will have to wear an electronic monitor if he's released.
Kamphaus has worked for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office since 1996. Officials reported that he has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending an investigation.
