April is Fair Housing Month. The Toledo Fair Housing Center works to educate area residents on what is housing discrimination and what can be done to stop it.
The Toledo Fair Housing Center was established in 1975 by The Women of the Old West End and The League of Women Voters in response to blockbusting and other housing discrimination practices. The community organized to fight discriminatory practices that were destroying Toledo's neighborhoods; the Center was organized as an effort to stop the discriminatory practices. The Center has been a leader in fair housing enforcement, having investigated over 11,000 complaints of discrimination and recovered over $27 Million in damages.
Senior Fair Housing Specialist Karen Plocek and Foreclosure Prevention Specialist Casandria Parker stopped by WTOL 11 on Wednesday, April 23 for a web chat. Plocek and Parker answered your questions on fair housing laws, housing discrimination and more.
