Mother picks up found child at Findlay Police station

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Findlay Police say the mother went to the Findlay Police station to pick up her young son after he was found wandering a city street.

Police say the child was found around 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24.

Sergeant Daniel R. Harmon from the Findlay Police Department released this statement:

An Officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of Fox St. to investigate a small child wandering the neighborhood. The child was located at the residence of a concerned citizen that took the child in for its safety. The Officer completed a check of the immediate area and spoke to some neighbors and no one was familiar with the child. The child was brought to the station for safe keeping. Other Officers canvassed the neighborhood in an attempt to locate the child's home. The child was entered into LEADS/ NCIC and local media outlets. Approximately two hours later the mother of the child called into the Police Department was instructed to come to the Police Station. The mother's identity was verified and the child was released back to her. The case has been referred the City Law Director's Office and Children Protective Services. The child was not harmed during the incident.
