Start High School students say the day was stressful after lockdown

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Parents were forced to wait in a parking lot across the street from Start High School when Toledo Police Department had it on lockdown Monday April 28. During the lockdown police escorted the students from their classrooms to the gym. At 2:00 p.m. parents were allowed in and could be with their students.

"I had seen the Sandy Hook event and I thought it would never happen to me. It's kind of too close to home," said student Justin Nunally.

Students were allowed to be dismissed at 2 p.m. or finish the remainder of the school day.

"Stressful. It was just stressful," said student Turin Stewart.

18-year-old William Carter III brought a loaded 45 caliber handgun to the school and was arrested by a school resource officer inside the school after what police described as a "scuffle."
