Michael Flunder is sharing
a very private journey with the public: he's a drug addiction counselor with a
very personal tie to the cause.
Over the last 17 years, Flunder
has overcome many forms of addiction, including a strong addiction to
"I surrendered to my addiction,"
he says. "If I hadn't surrendered to it,
I probably would've went crazy or killed myself."
In addition to
prescription drugs, Michael was also addicted to alcohol, heroin and
cocaine. These addictions gripped him
for 28 years, but he's been free from them since 1997.
Flunder has been inspiring
and helping addicts as a counselor at A Renewed Mind for 7 years now.
"God spared me through my
addiction, and I don't believe he just spared me for me," he said. "I believe he spared me to be of service to
other people and he carried me through everything I went through so that my
past experiences will be able to help somebody else."
