NORTHWOOD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police need your help. Northwood police are looking for a woman who they say stole two Children's Miracle Network jars along with other miscellaneous items.

It happened at a Northwood Speedway on Monday April 28 around 1:15 a.m. Police say she waited for the cashier to be busy with other things and then put the entire jars into her large purse and left the store.

"I think it's a very shameful thing to do to steal from a charity. It's a charity. It's there to help people who don't have anything. I just don't understand how low you can go that you're going to steal from a charity," said Sergeant Tina Sigler, Northwood police.

Many people are surprised that this theft happened.

"Most normal people out here, you think if you're donating something it's going to go to a good cause. You don't think someone is going to walk by and feel free to take it themselves!" said Steve Campbell, a Northwood resident.

Children's Miracle representatives did not want to comment on the story. They say some stores and gas stations leave the jars out year round, so it's hard to tell exactly how much money could have been inside.

If you know who this woman is call Northwood police at 419-691-5053.
