TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police officers are always helping people. Now you have a chance to return the favor and help an officer with the Toledo Police Department.

Two of Melanie and Robert Garcia's 14-year-old triplets, Mikayla and Roberto, have cerebral palsy.

The west Toledo family is in desperate need of a new van. The van they currently have needs repairs, but should be replaced with a new wheelchair-accessible van.

The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association is holding a contest now that wraps up in Mobility Awareness Month, and it could give the Garcia family what they need.

"Unfortunately with the age, stuff starts happening to it. Within this last year, we've put almost $5,000 just in the front end of it, a few things that are going. Just recently, the lift started giving us a problem," explained Garcia. "We haven't been able to take a trip 'cause we were always afraid the van is going to break down if we go too far away from home. So with the new van, we'll be able to do further trips."
