New development is in the works for Springfield Township. Several businesses are getting ready to open in the Spring Meadows area, and now a developer is preparing to start a new project on an empty lot of land along Airport Highway near I-475.
Developers from Passov Real Estate Group, located in Cleveland, say the front of the building would be 5,000-6,000 square feet with three tenants in the front. One of those tenants would be a gourmet sandwich shop. Other businesses are still in the works.
The back of the building would be 3,000-5,000 square feet. Developers say it could be a mix of office spaces and new businesses.
That's not all that's coming to Spring Meadows. Construction is under way for a new Kroger and Chick-Fil-A. A Sears outlet store is set to open in two weeks.
"It is cool because there are more places to go and there is more things to do, other than just sitting at home doing nothing," said Springfield Township resident Stephanie Grogg.
Springfield Township officials say there has been a growing interest for new businesses along Airport Highway.
"I'd say there are a handful of businesses that would love to locate in the Spring Meadows area," said Springfield Township Zoning Inspector Jacob Barnes. "Based on what we have now and what we will get in the future, I'm sure it will be high quality, and I am sure it will flow with the entire area."
"It is nice to see any part of Toledo growing, because it is a down economy. But I think this area especially could use a lot more businesses," said shopper John Farina.
Barnes says they are currently working with other businesses interested in the area.
