A burning cross, a Smith county man beaten and shot by a family member, and in critical condition. We are told this is much more than a family feud, and outraged family members are calling it a "hate crime."
Bowling Green Police say they have been called to Corrine's Creative Daycare and Preschool several times for various incidents. A report says police were called out as recently as Friday to do a welfare check.
"I don't think she was safe. I don't think my child was safe in the house," said a parent.
Parents still have a lot of questions Wednesday as an investigation moves forward.
"I trusted her to watch my child and she basically betrayed that trust," said a parent.
Guck, the registered sex offender found volunteering, also has pending burglary and drug charges. Police say he is now behind bars.
One parent says she pulled her child out after a discovery.
"There were maybe five children, small children. There was a caregiver there but she was sleeping on the couch," said a parent.
Corrine said it never happened. She says the employee accused of sleeping on the couch no longer works there.
Bowling Green Police say they can't talk about the center because it is part of an open and active investigation, but have said they are working with Job and Family Services.
The daycare provider tells Fox Toledo she voluntarily gave up her daycare license in 2013. Job and Family Service representatives said care centers can stay open without a license as long as there are fewer than six children in attendance.
