With the weather warming up, area residents are getting the chance to enjoy their days out on the water.
Many boaters hit Lake Erie Thursday, May 8, at the Lost Peninsula Marina near the Toledo boarder.
"Couldn't ask for a better day," said Nancy Smith of Lambertville, Michigan.
Bill Tabbert, Co-owner of Lost Peninsula Marina said he has the higher temperatures to thank for the added business. "Days like this bring everybody out. Just a couple of days ago, it was just awful," said Tabbert. "When it hits 70 degrees people get excited and start thinking about walleye and other various types of fish."
Getting boats ready was another way to take advantage of the gorgeous weather.
"Through the winter it sets, it gets dirty and you have to wash it down, said boat owner Eugene "Grumpy" Smith. "You got to polish ‘em up, got to get into the engine to make sure you change the oil, check the fuel level, and all the maintenance on the engine," added Smith.
Boat owners say it is a lot of work, but certainly well worth it on one of the first warm days of the year.
