A violent weekend in the metro has turned deadly after four people were shot in the last 24 hours.
The most recent shooting happened at Linwood Boulevard and Holmes Street just after midnight Monday.
When officers arrived the victim was located in the 3200 block of Holmes Street with an apparent gunshot to the head.
The victim had a faint pulse and was breathing. He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Two men were seen fleeing the scene on foot immediately after the shooting, police said.
Another shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Monroe Avenue.
Investigators said the victim was shot, then family members rushed them to the hospital for treatment. There is no word on any arrests.
Gunshots also rang out in the Westport area about 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
It happened at Summit and Mill streets close to a lot of popular restaurants and shops. When officers arrived, they learned two people had been shot.
One of the victims checked himself into an area hospital. A second victim showed up at another hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. At last report, the first victim is in critical condition.
