Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes says a deputy has been placed on administrative leave after a suspect was shot and killed during a standoff Monday.
Hughes says this is normal protocol while the Alabama Bureau of Investigation investigates the shooting.
The standoff took place on Rocky Creek Road. According to the sheriff's office, the suspect came out of the trailer and pointed a weapon at law enforcement officers. That is when the suspect was shot and killed.
Houston County authorities were attempting to serve a warrant at 11 a.m. and that is when the standoff started.
