TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Toledo organization that helps those in need has a new name, but its purpose remains the same. They celebrated the name change with a fun event, complete with a marching band made up of new employees.

People who attended had a reason to celebrate, all thanks to an organization formerly known as the Economic Opportunity Planning Association or EOPA. Their new name, which was officially announced on Friday, is Pathway.

"In explaining the name it simply means that there's a pathway to an enormous amount of opportunity as far as the eye can see," said Stanley Lowe, CEO, Pathway.

"We have a poverty rate that demands action, and that's the mission of community action to work to alleviate poverty and to help people achieve self sufficiency," said Paula Ross, Board Chairperson.

Pathway has partnered with 130 non-profit and private businesses. Over 700 hundred young people between the ages of 16 and 24 will be landing a summer job.
