Two unidentified bodies discovered in Huron Township home

Hudson Twp., MI -

Deputies in Erie County say two bodies were found this weekend in a home on Cleveland Rd. in Huron.  Both people were reportedly unidentifiable, and deputies are uncertain if this is a case of foul play.

Police say they would have never known two bodies were inside the home decomposing if the neighbors had not alerted them.

From what neighbors tell investigators, a woman in her 80s lived inside the townhome along with her 60-year-old son, who served as her caregiver.

Residents in the Beachwood Villas started to worry when they noticed letters piling up in the mailbox.  That's when someone called police for a welfare check.

Detectives say inside the home there didn't appear to be a crime scene, as neither body had gunshot or stab wounds.  Both were badly decomposed.

Detectives say a gas leak doesn't seem to be behind their deaths either.

We had the fire department come out and check, and there was no carbon monoxide, nothing like that," said Detective Sergeant Dennis Papineau of the Erie County Sheriff's Office.  "We spoke with several neighbors in the area.  They were familiar with the occupants, but they have not seen them for at least three weeks."

Detectives say the female body appeared to be more decomposed than the male.  They haven't yet ruled out foul play.

The Lucas County Coroner's Office is performing the autopsies.
