The Southwest Indiana COAD is a committee that organizes local groups to help assist in long-term recovery after disasters.
There was an organizational meeting, Thursday, to help people who were affected by a macroburst that came through Vanderburgh and Warrick counties on May 9th.
The COAD has several goals including collecting applications from impacted families, getting groups to help and volunteer their time and resources, and to maintain the group for future needs.
"The COAD really just puts its arms around the whole community and says lets all talk about disaster and what we can do to prevent it and or recover from it," says Steve Cain with Indiana VOAD.
Southwest COAD covers Vanderbugh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson Counties.
