(CNN) - Secretary of State John Kerry has agreed to testify on the Benghazi terror attack.

According to a letter obtained by CNN, Kerry will testify before the House Oversight Committee.

He was subpoenaed by the committee's chairman after new information surfaced that Republicans say supports their claim that the Obama Administration politicized its response to the attack.

The letter says Kerry "is prepared to appear" at a hearing on June 12 or June 20.

The 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya killed four Americans, including a U.S. ambassador.
