An ice cream shop was caught operating outside of the health department's regulations.

Inspectors found Edie's Ice Cream on Woodville Road in Oregon operating outside of its classification earlier this month. The facility either needs to be changed to a Class 4 - meaning it can cool and reheat food - or throw out its products to remain a Class 3.

Inspectors tallied up seven violations at Cousino's Steakhouse on Woodville Road in Oregon last week. There were unsafe food temperatures in a cooler, plus build-up on a rack holding meat and deli items. Inspectors say it all needs to be cleaned to prevent bacteria. Cleaning is also needed behind the cook line because of grease build-up.

Grease and debris could also be found at the Koney Grill on East Alexis Road. Six violations total included a dirty hood system and a bag of onions found stored on the floor. Inspectors also witnessed children in the back of the grill. Only employees are allowed to be in the food prep and storage areas of a restaurant.

Each year, 1 in 6 Americans gets sick by consuming contaminated foods or beverages, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
