Call 11 For Action: Rodent infestation makes Toledo neighborhood stink

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Residents living near an abandoned house in west Toledo say they have a rodent problem. Those who live on the 55-hundred block of San Paulo Drive say they want the city to step in and that the home has been empty for too long.

"I'm at my wits end… You got raccoons, you got feral cats, you got snakes, you got mice, you got big humongous rats," said Donna Puccetti.

It looks like the animals find their way into the home through broken windows and vents in the attic but neighbors say these animals are only part of the problem.

"The smell is so horrendous, it's indescribable. If it's a nice day like this and you want to open your windows, you can't," said Puccetti.

Puccetti is not sure what else is inside but says whatever it is stinks.

"I've called the city, I've called the department of neighborhoods, I've called the health department, I called critter control," said Puccetti.

All of this with no luck.

"Something needs to be done. Something has to be done. It can't go on like this," said Puccetti.

We reached out to city officials but they have not yet responded on the issue.
