Woodville mall coming down in Northwood

NORTHWOOD, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A mall that has been declared a nuisance is now being torn down in Northwood.

Demolition of the Woodville Mall began months ago. Nearly all the of building has been taken down, with just a few structures still standing.

Everything ate the property will be removed, including the concrete parking lot.

The mall has been vacant since 2011. The city of Northwood went to court to have the owners tear down the mall for $1.7 million.

The city administrator says he does not know what will be next for the property.

"Right now we do not have any prospects, any firm prospects, lots of ideas are floating around but we do not have any firm prospects right now. This was kind of our first step in remarketing this whole area in Northwood," said Northwood City Administrator Bob Anderson.

Anderson says the demolition should be completed within the next couple of months. The city had planned to have the building down by now, but winter weather delay the demolition.
