TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Lucas County Domestic Violence Task Force is working to make the process of filing a police report and following through in court easier for victims.

This is a story you only saw on WTOL 11.

One goal in that process is the creation of a Family Justice Center.

As of now, victims have to visit the police station to file a report, meet with the prosecutor to press charges and appear in court multiple times. A Family Justice Center would bring all of those processes to a common location.

"One facility where victims go for a one stop shop type of situation where all services are available or necessary for victims of domestic violence are located in one facility," said Toledo Municipal Court Judge Tim Kuhlman.

The court recently took one more step toward that goal by creating a victim's waiting room. There, domestic violence victims can meet with police and prosecutors.

The task force says the Family Justice Center is a work-in-progress, but that it should be completed within a year.
