TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Point Place is growing. Three new businesses are gearing up to open their doors for the first time.

Lighthouse Landing at 4441 North Summit Street has been given a make-over and will soon include a new ACE hardware.

The strip mall has been empty for more than 5 years. Three new businesses will open their doors, the first one this weekend.

The retail location offers 6 units, 4 of which have been rented out to Debbie Speegle and Kellie Schlacter. The two women are gearing up to open "DK Treasures" on Sunday morning.

Schlacter says this new business craze is just the start of what's happening in the so-called best place any place.

"There's new grants from Cullen Park across the street. Bass pro is coming; they have 5 or 6 different tournaments. So, we're hoping this area right here is just gonna spark and also drive more business to come in and set up at Point Place. It's a hidden gem. It's beautiful," said Schlacter.

Schlacter and Speegle's business is an antique and craft mall that includes a community garden and garden club, banquet hall for parties, music teacher, artist and coffee shop.

They're hope is the new ACE Hardware will also boost attraction.

"It's gonna be nice to have them here because people will come to ACE and they'll discover we're here, which is nice. People will want to see us and discover 'oh my goodness there's an ACE here!' so, we're gonna be able to work together to help build back this end of the community," said Speegle.

The owners of the new ACE Hardware own another ACE location in Sylvania. The Point Place location is expected to open in August.
