CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

19 Action News has learned Cleveland Police have identified the mother who they believe abandoned two children at a Salvation Army Shelter.

19 Action News was rolling this morning as police hit a home looking for Alisha Houston, 31, but she wasn't there.

Investigators are tracking some other leads now.

Yesterday Police released surveillance pictures of the woman at the shelter trying to figure out who she is.

That sparked tip calls leading to the new development.

A warrant for felony child endangering has been issued due to the children being left unattended and severe burns found on one of the children. The injuries were discovered during medical examination. The children remain in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

Child welfare workers meantime, had an open case with Houston. She had taken three other kids taken away from her before. County says child welfare workers had visited Houston 31 times in last year trying to stay on top of her and her parenting.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Alisha Houston is asked to contact the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit at 216-623-5630.
