TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two models of Jeeps made right here in Toledo are seeing an increase in sales.

The demand for the Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler continues to increase nationally, and Toledo-area Jeep sales people say they have seen that increase.

"Since the release, month over month we've had a lot of people come out, more people, and the last month was our highest for Cherokee sales since it has been released," said Yark Automotive Sales Manager David Thomas.

So far this year more than 19,000 wranglers have been sold. That is an 18 percent increase from last May. Nearly 16,000 Cherokees were sold in the same period.

According to Jeep, sales over all are up 58 percent: the brand's best monthly sales ever.

Even more impressively, the company has set sales records three months in a row.

"We see a lot more people coming in on the cars that are locally built because a lot of people partake, family members and everybody else in the building of these vehicles," said Thomas.

Jeep has also seen year over year monthly sales growth for the past 50 months.
