Toledo councilman Mike Craig is fired up over this year's budget. The district 3 councilman feels like he's receiving the short end of the stick because he believes there isn't enough money being allocated to fix up the east Toledo streets.
Councilman Craig says that under the proposed Capital Improvement Plan, he's receiving about $190,000 out of the six or seven million dollars that is being spread out over the six districts in the city for paving projects. He says he was told that this is the city's policy.
"It's an administrative policy to neglect bad streets. If they're too bad they simply won't spend the money to rebuild them. I have no idea how that makes sense," said Craig.
Councilman Craig says that with the $190,000 he would be able to have only one street paved. A vote on the operating budget which includes the Capital Improvement Plan is expected to take place on Tuesday.
