TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A 16-year-old Whitehouse teen took her own life in May after her family says she was cyber bullied on social media. An emotional tribute was held Thursday June 5 for this young life lost.

Bikes For Kids is a program that gifts 10 bikes to nominated deserving kids. In 2009 Kayla Meeker was a recipient of one of those bikes. Wersell's Bike and Ski Shop in Toledo has teamed up with a local law firm for the program.

Thursday they announced an 11th bike will be donated in Kayla's honor.

Kayla had said she was really happy moments after receiving her brand new bike when she was 11-years-old. Her family recalls this moment as they watch video recording.

"We miss her. We miss her a whole bunch," said Kayla's mother Julie Meeker.

Kayla passed away just a month ago.

"Anything you can do on the positive side makes it a little easier. Nothing makes it good," said Meeker.

"We figured it would be a nice tribute this year to give a bike in her memory," said Anneka at Bikes For Kids.

Bikes For Kids is also making it their mission to raise awareness for cyber bullying and teen suicide.

"I want people to be kind to each other, and what one child may not be affected by, the next child may," said Meeker.

Bikes For Kids is currently taking nominations for a child in your life who deserves a bike.
