OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Oregon School Board President P.J. Kapfhammer resigned at a meeting Tuesday. Kapfhammer has served as board president since July 2012.

Kapfhammer's time as president has not been without controversy. Kapfhammer was found guilty of one count of disorderly conduct in June 2013 after an incident at Clay High School. Witnesses say Kapfhammer verbally abused a person with autism. Baseball players were working out in the weight room February 1 when Kapfhammer approached 25-year-old Thomas Blachowski and began shouting at him, gesturing for him to leave.

A student tried to defend Blachowski, saying he was an honorary manager of the Clay baseball team.

Kapfhammer admitted there was a confrontation and was charged disorderly conduct.

Kapfhammer says he feels he's done all that he can for the school district. Oregon Superintendent Dr. Lonny Rivera says there was no scandal surrounding the resignation, and that it was a personal decision by Kapfhammer.
