When Toledo native Virginia McCune met her husband 50 years ago, she had no idea what kind of life she was in for.
"He went to the track. I didn't know he was racing, she recalls. "I said jeez, that looks Jimmy.".
It was, and it was the start of a racing family that runs now four generations.
There's her husband, the great modified racer, Jim McCune Jr.
"You get it in your system and you can't get it out," McCune says.
Their son, Jim III
"I probably raced four to five years of my life," III recalls
Then there's Jim IV. He won last year's super modified race at Toledo Speedway.
"I couldn't imagine doing anything different," said IV.
And finally, the great grandson Andrew.
"Once you go to the races, for the first time," said Andrew. "You enjoy it."
Life on the road was always an adventure.
"We'd load up the suburban and the whole family would be in there," recalls III,
Still, they wouldn't have it any other way.
"They are doing what the love," said Virginia. "And that's the most important thing."
It's like the old saying: the family that races together, stays together
