Driver cited with OVI after Hancock Co crash, car fire

HANCOCK COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A driver escaped injury early Saturday morning, after his car crashed and caught on fire in Hancock County.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 4:43 a.m. in Orange Township.

Deputies say James Watson, 23, of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, was driving north on State Route 235 when he lost control of his vehicle. The car struck a stop sign at the intersection of SR 235 and SR 103 before eventually ending up in a ditch.

Watson's vehicle was on fire when deputies arrived to the scene. The Bluffton Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames.

Watson was not injured in the crash. He was cited for OVI and operating a vehicle without reasonable control.
