The embarrassing and dysfunctional mess at the Lucas County Board of Elections is finally getting cleaned up. Ohio Secretary of State John Husted fired 3 people. It took him awhile to get there, but at least he got it right. Cleaning house shows he is serious.
Voters should not have to wonder about the integrity of their vote. The residents of Lucas County should never been subjected to the ridiculous circus into which the board of elections had devolved.
Now, it is up the Mr. Husted to make certain the future does not look like the past. Given the history of chaos and chicanery, a permanent fix is not a sure thing.
Let's hope Mr. Husted keeps a sharp eye on Lucas County and responds immediately to any failure to perform, or indication of backsliding by any member of the elections board.
