ODOT breaks ground for I-75 widening project

Posted: Updated:
WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio Department of Transportation broke ground Wednesday for a project which will widen parts of I-75 from Perrysburg to Findlay.

Drivers will see lane restrictions from US 6 to where the state route meets I-75. This will occur beginning June 17 until June 20, from the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

"We're ever growing. So the wider the road can be or the more lanes that are accessible then we're gonna see less traffic problems and accidents and so on and so forth," said Rod Musselman, who travels I-75 frequently.

ODOT crews will do prep work on the project, including pavement repairs. The project is designed to increase the amount of traffic flow to the area, especially for truck drivers.

Construction to create the third lane in each direction will continue over the next three years. The project will cost $261 million total.
