CHICAGO, IL (Toledo News Now) -

Do dream of cheering your son or daughter to an NCAA championship, but find he or she is more interested in PlayStation than playing outside? Worry no more. One university is now offering college scholarships for video games.

Robert Morris University in Chicago says it is among the first schools in the nation to offer athletic scholarships for "eSports," or video games. Specifically, Robert Morris will soon offer to cover half of tuition and room and board for students on the varsity League of Legends team. League of Legends is a popular online game for Windows and Macintosh computers.

"Robert Morris University has always been at the forefront of providing opportunities for a diverse student population with different interests and skills.  League of Legends is a competitive, challenging game which requires significant amount of teamwork to be successful," Robert Morris Associate Athletic Director Kurt Melcher said in a statement.
