Second year for 911 Heroes Run in Madisonville

Posted: Updated:

In its first year the Travis Manion Nine-Eleven Heroes Run quickly became one of the largest events ever in Madisonville.

Organizers are hoping for even bigger numbers the second time around.

With over 790 runners last year the first annual 9-11 Travis Manion Heroes run in Madisonville surpassed all expectations.

One year later organizers are making some changes to gear up for this year's run on September 6th.

They are changing the opening ceremony to a more central location at the Hopkins County courthouse as well as moving the start and finish lines to East Center and Franklin Street.

Organizers are hoping they can get more community support.

Organizers say the length and basic layout of the course will remain the same.

Runners and walkers will still make the turn up onto Main Street in Madisonville and pass under high-flying American flags hung by the Madisonville Fire Department.
