The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to identify a body that was found in the Deerfield River early Tuesday morning.
Kayakers discovered a body in the Deerfield River at about 6:30 a.m., according to Mary Carey, communications director for the Northwestern District Attorney's Office
The discovery comes after a multi-day search for a 26-year-old woman who went missing after she was trapped Sunday night by a whirlpool under a dam in the river in Conway.
Carey said the body discovered was a female victim. She said she does not anticipate that the search will continue for the victim that went missing in Conway in light of this discovery.
Emergency crews from across Franklin County assisted in the search Sunday night, which was postponed due to turbulent water. More than 80 people picked up the search again Monday morning, but failed to find the woman.
The victim will be identified following an examination by the Chief Medical Examiner's office.
