Free yard compost for Maumee residents

Posted: Updated:
MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The City of Maumee has found a free way for residents to get rid of yard waste.

Residents can now drop off their waste at the Ohio Compost located on Sager Road and State Route 20A. Maumee residents can show proof of residency to use the facility for free.

Maumee city leaders say the arrangement saves the city money. In the past, the city operated its own compost system.

Ohio Compost accepts most yard waste materials. If you don't want to use the service, the city will still provide curbside brush pickup twice and year, and the Brown Bag program, which costs $2.50 per bag.

Ohio Compost will be available for free to Maumee residents through November. It's open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on weekends from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
