How to avoid construction and park for the Marathon Classic

Posted: Updated:
SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Marathon Classic officially begins Wednesday, but road work continues throughout several Sylvania neighborhoods.

Fortunately for golf fans, the construction shouldn't be much of a hindrance.

Guests attending the tournament can park at Centennial and Brint Road for $5, in a parking lot named "Parking Lot B." From there, a shuttle will take fans to the Highland Meadows golf course.

"We all have to be patient with the construction season," explained Jim Decker, director of marketing for the tournament. "You can get off (US-23/I-475) at Central Avenue and just head west on Central and, you know, take it to Centennial Road."

Visitors may want to plan a little more time for travel, since speeds are lower than normal due to construction on US-23.

If you'd like to park closer to the golf course and skip the shuttle, some residents living near Highland Meadows offer parking on their lawns - for a price.
