BAGHDAD (Iraqiya TV/CNN) - Iraqi security forces have pulled out from a key city after fierce fighting with militants believed to be from the ISIS terrorist group.

Fifty-two Iraqi soldiers and 40 militants were killed after clashes broke out in Tikrit.

Military forces lost 10 vehicles while withdrawing.

They are now regrouping south of the city.

The seizing of Tikrit comes as Iraq's Parliament takes steps to ease days of political bickering.

On Tuesday, lawmakers elected Salim al-Jabouri as the speaker of Iraq's Council of representatives.

The country's constitution says the job of speaker must go to a Sunni Muslim and the role of president to a Kurd, and the post of prime minister to a Shiite.
